After much frustration trying to fish offshore cover after locating with side imaging, I think the answer to my problems is the point 1. I have an old hds5 gen 1 at the bow and hds9 gen 2 at the console. Where would the best place to ml out it? Right up front by the trolling motor? And do I need to buy any additional cables or adapters to hook up to my current set up? Any info is good info, thanks.

Don't think it matters, just need to have a clear view to the sky.

And ur right, it will help fishing offshore structure.

Keep it away from the trolling motor, mid console is the best location with the arrow facing the front of the boat.

As stated above, mount it away from anything metal since it works off magnetic fields like a compass. It really makes no difference where you mount it. Mine is right behind the drivers seat on the back deck.

As far as wiring - you will need a NEMA to connect it to 2 units. It will NOT work through an ethernet cable.
