Chatter baits are absolutely deadly this time of year. They can really make those sluggish bass react in this frigid water. Here is a video that I whipped up on how I modify my chatter baits to help me get a few extra bites. I hope the viewers can find this video helpful, if you have question about anything I didn't cover in the video please ask. If you would like to see more videos like this go ahead and subscribe. Thanks!

Yea a sharpie will work. When I paint a white or green chatter bait. It's kinda difficult to find sharpie in those colors. Thanks for watching

Best tip for a chatterbait is to bend the hook out just a hair past level. Will help on hookups. If you look at most baits out of the package, the hook is angled down (toward the shank).

good video - I found a cool color to use on Green Pumpkin chatters when I build my own - Rust-o-leum Hammered Dark Bronze - looks great over a silver or black blade and gives it a GP color. Also use matte black grill paint too

I honestly have not had any trouble with hook up ratio on chatter baits. I did however have trouble with a certain brand of jigs a couple years ago. I opened up the hook just a little and I haven't had any trouble since

Liked the video and tips. Nail polish also is a good way to paint the blade and if you keep the bottle in the boat if a touch up is needed.
