I was wanting to start this thread to hopefully share info, occasional reports & general discussion about Lake J.B. Thomas, E.V. Spence, O.H. Ivie & the Colorado River of West Texas.

These catfish were caught off cut shad around Paint Creek of E.V. Spence 1/1/2017.

2 decent blues caught past pump up the Colorado @ E.V. Spence. Lake seems to be making a great recovery from its past algae issues.

Need to count anal fins, those look like monster channel cats. If they are that's even more impressive than blues because those are studs for channel cats.

You might be correct. Seems the channels are really dark in this particular lake. Besides color & the spots near the tail-end is about the only way i know how to tell em apart. My ignorance due to mainly chasing crappie all my years! Kinda new to the catfish

If those are channel cats, they are absolute monsters! And I see one that I feel strongly is a channel cat.

Gotcha.. I live on the lake up past that pump. Are they still wormy? Last ones I kept I had a bunch of worms in them.

I don't own property at the lake but definitely been enjoying my stay over at Wildcat RV. As far as any worms, I've cleaned several in the past few months and haven't ran into any. Lake looks good and healthy. Really clear (even back around Paint Creek) & also been seeing alot of bait fish. I did wish it had more than the 147 adult crappie they stocked last yr, but theres always Oak Creek!
