Both the Whuppin Sticks and the King Kat Rods are Good - only issues I've had is eyelet inserts coming out ( I've lost insert on Ugly Sticks too) Have caught teens, 20's 30's on both.

The Salt Striker reels are bad to the bone! I bought 3 of them to use when I went to Venice, La. I caught 5' black tips and a 30 lb Jack Crevalle on them. If they can hold up to that Jack, they can pull in a state record catfish. The jack almost spooled me on the initial run against full drag and took over 20 minutes to get to the boat.

BigPoppa I have used the two salt strikers I bought on sale earlier this year and I must say they have worked out fine. Now for rods I prefer pro angler and own ten of them. Thanks for keeping us posted on the deals! I would say the salt strikers at 30% off is a good deal knowing the quality as I have witnessed myself.

I grabbed two of those salt strikers, SS-80B, over the holiday week. Trying to figure out what rod to pair them up with, for some big mississippi river blues. I have 2 cabelas King Kat II's, with Daiwa Emcast sport 6000's, already. That setup has pulled in up to 30lb blues for me so far. I am just not sure how well those King Kat's are going to handle the 50lb+ found in the Mississippi. Was thinking TWC spinning extremes, but unsure of castability, as they are shorter rods. B'n'M Silver Cat Magnum are another consideration, and seem to be really good rods. Also, I can pick them up at Gander Mountain.

I looked at them, also. Was concerned shipping wasn't going to be cheap. Definitely would prefer a 2 piece, for when they are going to be in the truck, instead of my boat.

I ordered 4 2 piece 8' 2 or 3 years ago and shipping was like $16 but they were not in a crush proof tube - just a cardboard box but they were bubble wrapped.
