Had a good winter trip the other day. Started at Lake Dunlap and caught some nice Bluegill and Channel Cats. Picked up a couple of small bass that rounded out the catch. Fished from 10am till 1pm and caught over 25 nice Bluegill and about 7 nice Channel Cats in the 2 to 4 pound range. Fish were in 10 feet of water holding close to docks and dock slips. Worms with a bottom technique were used. Since I have plenty of fish these were released. Finished the day fishing the Cibolo Creek. Picked up another 20 fish including some nice Redbreast. Creek fish were holding by brush piles close to the bank. This latest warm spell really has them active. Catching some nice fish during early winter. It just don't get any better! fish

Thanks Vogey and Sketter22 for the replies. Going to turn colder later this week. Hopefully the Crappie will turn on! Docks are holding a lot of bait fish! Had another pretty good day today! thumb

Vogey! You are right Sir. The water temperature on Dunlap is unbelievable! If the winter stays mild we should have one GREAT RIO season! rockon

Gotta love those warm winter weeks that get the fish biting Great job thumb

I've been destroying the largemouth, crappie and bluegill in the Somerville creeks. I tried the ponds today and found the big greenies biting. banana

Thanks Will,Allen,Fishwfly, and Jamie for the replies. It's been pretty cold these past couple of days. It is supposed to warm up this upcoming week. Seems the fish get pretty active during these warm up spells. So far the winter sunfish bite has been pretty good! thumb

Side Note: Going to be looking for the Crappie! hide2

Nice fish Chuck! This winter was been odd to say the least. One day it is 23 degrees with the windchill at 15 degrees. The next day it is 83 degrees. This week to week weather change is making it hard to pattern some fish. I have caught several nice Bluegill in 5 to 8 feet of water fishing Mcqueeney this past week. Usually they are in 15 to 20 feet of water hanging around a brush pile or ledge. What is your take?

Again nice fish! woot

Thanks Curtis and SGT BALLARD for the replies. cheers Curtis: So far this winter has been on the mild side. I am picking up the Gills in rivers and lakes in 10 to 16 feet of water by structure. I have not been getting anything around overhanging tree limbs. The two creeks I am fishing are still very active. Usually this time of year they are not. Crappie bite has been fair but I have not been searching hard for them. So far this winter has been a mild one. juggle

Side Note: This latest rain has really helped! partyon

Thanks Chuck for the reports. Looks like another front has come in. Cooler temperatures the next few days with no freezes. Going to check the Crappie holes the next few days.
