Other than a couple hundred bucks and an inch, any reason to go with one over the other? I like the 7TI I had but want a little larger unit. And without getting into the Ford vs Chevy discussion, any MAJOR reasons to go with one over the other?

I had a Helix and changed from Hummingbird to Lowrance. I have and HDS but looked at the Elites. I think it's easier to navigate through the Lowrance units and really dial it in more. I also like the clarity of the Lowrance better. Both were great units but for me the Lowrance units are better. Just my opinion

Yes, the new helix g2 mega. Chirp on si,di and sonar. Higher frequencies and better picture. Hummingbird is hard to beat right now. Post in general equipment section and you'll get more info

I've been waiting on the 9 ti . I have a 7ti and absolutely love it. Touchscreen, side imaging downscan structure scan. Lowrance is definitely raising the bar and price is half of what you're gonna spend on a Hds 9 gen3 and it basically offers the same features. Hds 9 is a more powerful unit but unless you're fishing in 300ft of water you would never notice the difference ora lag in performance. Hds 9 offers a few more features but too me it's not worth another 1000.00 dollars to ha e weather band or nmea. If I want 3D structure scan on the ti, you spend an additional $500 and get the 3D module. Probably gonna pick up a 9ti this week. Will report back about this unit. I came so close to dropping 2k on the hds9 gen 3 bundle, glad I waited.

Was told at the Lowrance booth at Sealy's Big Bass that they would be releasing both an Elite 9ti and 11ti around the first of the year. Did not know the 9ti was released till this thread. The 11ti shouldn't be too far behind. Absolutely love my 7ti and can't wait to match it up with the 11ti.

I would get the bird. Unless you want a unit that can't be linked with anything else I see no reason to get the lowrance.

Does linking mean sharing way points? Is there other benefits of linking

Share transducers. If you have a trolling motor with ilink, it works with the ff to go to waypoints, follow contour lines etc.

I've lost my trolling motor transducer, so until I buy another one, I am able to use my transom ducer on my front ff.

Hey Gtrigg, the 9ti and the 12ti are out and available for purchase. Haven't seen or heard of an 11ti.Both the 12ti and the 9ti come with insight and c-maps already installed. IMHO lowrance has raised the bar with the elite ti series of electronics. You'll never realize how much easier to navigate your system/settings/menus with a touch screen unit until you try it. Once you do you will never go back. Tight lines

Well it would be the $1000 version since the 9ti is SI unit....

I can see sharing transducers being a plus and networking, but the touchscreen and $200 difference in price for a Helix SI . The price difference isn't a "huge" deal on a $1000 unit if it can be justified with an option I couldn't live without...just not sure networking is worth having to buy another bird for the now plus a couple hundred extra dollars on top of that.

Great news SK1, thanks for sharing. I've seen the 9 Ti on Tackle Warehouse's site, but they don't have the 12 Ti listed as of yet. I'll have to look around for another supplier.
