 New Years Eve smack down on the Trinity River

Sure was fun. Fished the same area as Christmas day. 8am-3pm I must of caught well over 100 small Whitebass that were 6"-10" & only a few 13"-14" that I kept. I know 10" is legal but, not much meat to make them worth cleaning for me. About 12:30 I caught my 1rst Striper of the new year. Measured 20" so I kept it. Caught 2 more that were 17" so back to the water they went. Caught 1 Hybrid on my homemade Roostertail type spinner & more on fresh shad. All of them were 17"-17.5" Back to the water they went. I caught the 1rst Striper on a 2" chrome spoon. The others bit fresh shad on the bottom. By 3pm my arms & lower back was sore so I went home. Going again Friday or Monday. I'm taking a top water plug & some more chrome spoons. 20" striper & Whitebass 17" Hybrid on a yellow spinner bait

Didn't go last Monday.
I may go again this Friday or next Monday.
It should get way better in the next 2-3 weeks as the run progresses.
I think the end of January should be hot.

Great job! Seeing pictures like this makes me want to get out there and catch some white bass. Which one is the striper?
It was a different world when we were boys and girls....

Great job! Seeing pictures like this makes me want to get out there and catch some white bass. Which one is the striper?
Hard to tell with all those big fish huh ? Maybe top right ? 10am today the lot still had room for more boats. Water still looks green & clean.  .

OK, I found it now, heading into Lake Livingston, that makes more sense why there are lots of whites in there this time of the year.
