Fished Conroe for the first time with the old man on Wednesday, 12/28. Winds out of the s/sw. Nice day out, good day for boating. Never saw anybody else pull in a fish, but was never really around other boats much. Stayed mainly midlake, seemed as good an idea as any. Boated 10 fish total, 5 bass, 1 crappie, 1 catfish, 1 white bass, 1 hybrid striper and 1 what I'm pretty sure was a yellow bass. Biggest bass about 3 pounds, although the old man lost a bigger one boatside when he tried to horse it in. All largemouth were super shallow in areas wind was blowing into, came on either jigs or shallow crankbaits. All the other stuff came in deeper water dropping spoons and blades onto stuff we saw on the graph.

Good job! Glad to hear that someone can catch a fish on Conroe.

I think that if we had concentrated on either approach we could have caught quite a few more, but as it was our first time there and we were just having fun, we scouted around quite a bit and played with different approaches. I suspect for bass that hitting wind pounded retention walls and docks will usually be highly productive. We didn't get around to hitting humps with deep diving crankbaits but that is supposed to be good too.
