Several members of my family go out every year on one of the 100-person party boats to go Red Snapper fishing in June. There are about 10 of us now, and we'd like to try something different. Are there any fishing charters out of Galveston that can handle a group of 10 for either a half day or a full day?

I'm not sure about Galveston but out of Freeport the boat "Bluefin" would be ideal. they usually take 10 - 14 people. Out of Freeport there are probably more snapper spots closer to port than there are in Galveston.

Bluefin is superb! That's the way to go!

I hear you on the price range. Like others, their prices have escalated in recent years. But before you discard going with them keep in mind this trip is nothing like doing a 100 person head boat trip. The perks of doing one of these trips are certainly worth paying a little more. That amount is different with all of us though.

On the Bluefin you would be able to take your own food and drinks, More room to fish is worth something too. You can put these guys fish catching ability up against anyone so there is little doubt in my mind you would catch more fish.

Last Snapper season the Bluefin offered some open boat trips and I am not sure but it's possible that the rate for that might be a little less. So you might keep an eye out for that.

Well,as far as the 12 hr trips it depends on the time of year. For instance if it is during Red Snapper season they would likely get a limit of Red Snapper then go for Kings and other bottom fish. These trips catch a lot of Beeliners and Mangos.
When AJ season is open they will get a limit of AJ and then do for grouper, etc. Bottom fishing for grouper is better out of Freeport than anywhere else along the coast.

Blackfin tuna are most popular after about August 1 on into the fall. A few Blackfin are caught after the shrimpers get back out July 15 but it doesn't really get consistent until August.

The Yellowfin tuna are only targeted on the 36 hr. trips. They do some 36 hr trips to the floaters but not a whole lot of them. My guess a drawback for them is lack of sleeping amenities.

Mikey and Josh are cool dudes that I and some others here used to fish with on the Big E and are really fishy.
