I usually end up going fishing alone now that my son is older (teenager) and would rather spend his time with friends and girls....Yesterday he woke up at 5 am with his Dad and we both loaded up the yaks and headed to Lake Somerville to fish the creeks for crappie! We finally made our way to the Yegua after giving him the choice of what creek to fish. We worked our way up the cloudy and dreary looking creek hoping the clouds would give way to sunshine. By the late afternoon, the clouds did go dissipate and left up with some blue sky. We did manage to find some crappie, all be it small and no keepers. It was tough fishing but at least some of the LMB complied. We spent all day in the creek, ran into several jon boats and another father and son team also in search of some fish. The wind was slightly brutal on the way back to the boat ramp, but it was all worth the effort and enjoyed the time with my son.

Enjoy them now for they grow up so fast...

Great pictures and such wonderful memories!!!

My son and my daughter have both kayaked and fished the Yegua. My daughter went once....I've not been able to convince her to head out with me again. She's a grown women now and almost done with her college carreer, but as a little girl we went to the local ponds to fish for bass and catfish. My son, well, on occasion I can pry him away from his teenage world and hit the Yegua, Huntsville, and other locations. The pictures below are some of the shots I've taken over the years. Last time my daughter and I fished, she was 17 and Newman's Bottom was still open.
