Whether you have gone to Academy in the past few days or not, they are trying to get rid of a majority of their inventory before year end! I picked up some lipless crankbaits, crappie jig heads and some different hooks at a pretty good price. So Stop by your local Academy and see what they got left, a lot of the isles will look like they have been picked clean, but just check it out. Great way to get some tackle that needs replacing or try out something new at a discount price.

Mine been "blown out" since summer. They seriously need a person that knows how, when, and WHAT to order based upon the lakes near the store.

I understand what you mean, I try to go to Academys that are not situated close to a major lake...even though you could say that they all have some sort of relation to a nearby lake, I still try to go to the ones that are more urban located. The Academy that I went to was in Frisco and one in Plano...but if I am ever looking for specific tackle, it is tacklewarehouse for me.

I picked up some Rat'l Trap lipless cranks in a red base color with gold stripes for 1.48...they were mis-labeled on the shelf, so make sure you check prices on stuff.

The fishing aisles in most Academy stores I go into look like they have already gotten rid of their tackle! Man, the ZOOM soft plastics hooks are down to nothing.

Be safe,

looks like the average angler could have a shot at a corporate office if they would let them order product. The academy chain has to be losing a lot of money. I went the other day to restock and was expecting to pay a few hundred for plastics, hooks, and weights.....I spent $60 because they didn't have a 1/4 of what I needed.

I went to the Academy in Frisco about 3 weeks ago, the crankbaits had lots of empty pegs, looked like they had about 70% of the cranks/traps not in stock.

Academy in Waxahachie seems to stay fairly stocked up... except for watermelon red senkos. bang

Went last night and got at least $200 worth of stuff for $70 with all the clearance deals. Most of the crazy good deals were gone but they still had some stuff.

Many years ago the Walmart in Killeen had a sporting goods department manager that fished and had the authority to order for the department. It was stocked with Allstar rods (back when they were really good), Shimano reels and tackle that the local fisherman actually used. Listening/knowing what needed to be in stock boosted the departments sales way up. Go to any Bass Pro shop or Academy and look at all the salt water and fly fishing items on the shelves. How many times have you seen anyone in those isles actually shopping? It is beyond me why all such stores don't allow the departments to make their own decisions as to what needs to be in these stores!! If I were a retailer competing with internet sales, without a doubt my store would have what you needed.

Sometimes you are able to get those deals and sometimes you aint got a shot...kind of like that $100 H2O Reel they had marked down to like $9.99 a few weeks ago. I went in the day I saw it posted on here and they didn't have any of them...
