Got my new "fishing shack" set up at Broken Bow this evening. Going to give the trout a shot in the morning. Just from what I saw from the road the river looks way different than from before the flood. This is my first trip here since the flood. Kind of excited to do some exploring tomorrow.

Good luck, love those mobile shacks, used do a lot of that in South Africa years ago. Enjoy.

Looks like the place to be. We were there the 12th-16th and I caught a bunch of fish. From the spillway to the evening Hole bridge it is a completely different river since last years flood. There were a bunch of fish in the river while we were there and the next week they brought in a additional four trucks from the ODWC so Mickey should even catch some. Me and some friends are coming back Thursday for my 50th birthday. Hope you have a great time.

I'm envious! Our favorite place to be. I've been seeing good fishing reports lately. Wish I was there!!

Fished below where to upper foot bridge used to be, down to a place we called the Christmas Pool ( that was a long time ago and I don't think it's called that anymore- certainly not after the flood). The river is just littered with fish. There are a lot of fast, shallow runs now that I like to fish with a wooly bugger. I like to skip it on or just below the surface in the fast water and watch the trout smash the fly. You miss a lot more than you catch but it's fun to just watch the strike. I landed twenty and probably missed three or four times that many. It's just crazy right now and the weather is ridiculously nice ( ran the air conditioning in the camper last night).

Mickey is way more interested in chasing squirrels today but, you know...
Early Happy Birthday Dawg - I hope, for your birthday, the fishing holds. Good luck buddy.

Glad to hear you did good! You couldn't see any fish even when we were there. It was picked clean saw three the entire length of evening hole. Saw one caught. It's crazy the swings in fish numbers that place has. You couldn't ask for better weather this time of year.

Fishing was a little tougher today. Only landed five. Saw a few fish take a short swing at the fly but wouldn't eat. Switched to a Brassie in red under a strike indicator and picked up a few fish. Going to fish zone two in the morning and see what's going on there. Watched three otters playing in the river today. Those things are just fun to watch to me.

Fished zone two this morning for about three hours. Tied on a size 14 Copper John and landed a fish on the first cast. Hooked a fish on the third cast, got a couple of jumps out of him then the hook pulled. Not luck for the next hour so I switched to a size 12 olive hairs ear with a size 18 midge pupa dropper. First cast I got a strike and was thinking he ate the midge but found out, after a weird fight, that I had foul hooked him in the top of the head. That was it for the rest of the morning. Did have two Bald Eagles fly right over me but I couldn't get my camera out fast enough for a photo. I did however get some great shots of some Hooded Mergansers though. Didn't bring my laptop so I won't be able to get the pics off my Nikon till I get home. Pretty nice morning all in all. My wife and I ran into town this afternoon to run some errands and do some laundry so I just hung around camp this afternoon and read a book - no fishing. My wife wants trout for lunch tomorrow so I'm headed back to the park in the morning for ( hopefully ) the main coarse. I'm outside right now, grilling hamburgers and it's not to bad but it's supposed to get down to thirty for the low so I'm going to have to go in and lay out some more clothes for tomorrow morning.
