...and we did alright!

I was actually hoping for a cooler, cloudier day on the water, but despite the slow bite we landed five nice sized rainbows and a small Guadalupe bass between the two of us. Roostertails, Mepps and Panther Martins all had equal success.

We fished pretty much everywhere, but all fish were caught in the trophy zone at Lazy L and L.

Started the day off at Huaco Springs-no bite. Showed the boss Mountain Breeze but didn't fish it as he only had boots, no waders.
Fished and caught some nice ones at L and L for a few hours, then ended the day at the tailrace with no bites.

Was this on Wednesday? If so I must have just missed you. I was there all day at L&L and got zero trout. Started out the day at the Devil's Playground and went up behind the shop in the afternoon and then back to DP to finish up. Was a rough day for everyone, only saw two trout caught all day. Glad to see you all did so well, gives me hope for next time!

Yep, it was Wednesday. I felt a little bit bad because it was my boss's first time on the Guadalupe, and I out-fished him. I even gave him the holes that I caught trout in last time. He still had enough fun that not only does he plan to go back, he called today and told me he was researching prices on chest waders!

Definitely a tough day fishing. We were there between 10:30 and about 3:30, and I only saw one other angler pull anything out of the river. Still a good day.

Side Note: What are the rules in a trout trophy zone?

Thank Gitter Done, it was a blast!

Here's what it says on the TPWD website:

Please note: Two sections of this river are subject to special harvest regulations on rainbow and brown trout. In these sections, all trout harvested must be caught on artificial lures, and the following bag and size limits are in effect:

Trout Zone 1: Beginning 800 yards downstream from the Canyon Dam release gate and extending to the easternmost bridge on FM Road 306, there is a 12-to-18-inch slot limit. Trout 12 inches and under or 18 inches and longer may be retained. Daily bag limit is five trout, and only one can be 18 inches or longer.

Trout Zone 2: From the easternmost bridge on FM 306 downstream to the second bridge crossing on River Road, there is an 18-inch minimum size limit, and a one trout daily bag.

Lazy L and L is in trout zone 2.

Thanks for the reply. The Lazy L&L is a nice year around spot!
