Got out this morning right as the wind was giving out..found some in 35 ft and did pretty good early running the planer boards in the old lake......wind died so I moved out to main lake







and scanned forever before I found them stacked in 45ft gorging on shad and drum. Anchored up and dropped some gizzard bombs on they azz. Lost count around 20 fish...camera died so only got half the day's pics. Hell of a bluebird day! All fish CPR'd to fight another day.

Thanks gentleman...I need a true monster hunter to teach me some new tricks though. Hoping to get on with one of the top dogs here sometime to get schooled and have some real fun! Hard to get away for more than 5-6 hrs to hire a guide with a 1 year old baby boy at home.

Good job. I wish you could show me what your looking at on the graph when you think it's a scenario worth fishing. Are you looking at 2d. Or side scan or both ?

I'm no electronics wizard but I start with my contour map and side scan. I Cover a lot of water till I see fish and bait concentrating in an area. Once I find the fish and the bait I start looking for bait balled up. Move over the balls with 2d till you find some with a good number of cats under them. Start fishing!

What is a planer board?

40 yard wide multi depth trolling........I wish the boards were cheaper -- $25-$28 a pop on up to $60 a pop ...... I havnt tried them yet because of price - been looking at them.......... ever not catch but juggers caught some nice fish.? Cuz jugs were running mid depths ..........

Just got off the lake and the wind was howling..Planer boards are expensive and there is a little learning curve but they flat out work! We only caught 5 small ones this morning but 3 came off the planers. To me they are worth the cost as they do put more fish in the boat especially when fish and bait are scattered like today...water was back in the 50s today...come on cold fronts!!! I think planer boards would definitely help on Benbrook . I have seen guys running jugs catching when nobody else was.....

I'm a weekend warrior myself..let's get together sometime in January or February when the monsters are biting good if our schedules jive.

Well I just ordered a pair from Cabelas - 1 right n 1 left.........

These ones....

Sometimes it's the weather, sometimes it's your equipment, and sometimes it you!! Stay after em wildman! Big cool off coming first week of Jan should get em going for the rest of the winter.

Those will work! Let me know how they perform after 3-4 trips. They are a pain at first but you get em figured out after a few trips. Careful leaving them on the floor and stepping on them. They will break. Keep them stowed when on plane cause they will take flight on you. Good luck!

My drifting partner just got two planner boards and we have only used them once so far. Now I am encouraged to break them out at mid depth.
