Night fishing the boat house lights on Cedar Creek one warm summer night. There is often ducks swimming/feeding in the lights. Cast across the lights to work a crank across the lighted water just as a duck takes off in flight and my crankbait and the duck meet in midair. My baitcast reel is disengaged and the duck flies off into the darkness and I realize it's stripping all the line off my reel. I turn the handle and engage the reel. When the duck hits the "end of the line" I was basically "setting the hook" and had the hardest "bite" of the night :-) I can feel and hear the duck crashing into the water off in the darkness. Good news was when he crashed to earth he became unhooked or untangled somehow and was free. Thank goodness because I was thinking I was going to have to reel in and fight this duck to unhook him. Weird!

Bank fishing on the old Lake Dallas dam one time the gulls would pick up my Super Spook as soon as it started moving on the surface. One even caught it mid-cast. Luckily never got one hooked or line wrapped.

Growing up fish on Lake Mead we would use live shad as bait had to try and get it down under water before the birds would pick it up. Had to bring in two birds that swallowed the hooks and that is one fight you will never forget!

Fairfied about 10 years ago casting a buzzbait across a point with grass when a blue heron took off and got under my line. Hooked himself and it was like flying a wild eyed crazy kite for a couple of minutes. He finally came down and I "reeled" over to him to get it out. Evidently blue herons do NOT like boats or people. Man that thing tried to peck me like crazy and I was by myself. Finally had to throw the net on him so I could get a hold of his head where he couldn't peck the [censored] out of me and managed to get the buzz bait out of him. Getting him released was like holding a dang bobcat in your lap. He was not a happy camper!

Trout and red fishing, using live bait, on the coast got a gull thru the beak. It is a cool fight flying the bird like a kite for a couple of minutes. Finally got it in and I held it while a buddy took the hook out.

It's not really an attack but I was fishing a buzzbait one night and was fishing a dock that had a lot of ducks on it. Well I made a bad cast and the buzzbait landed on top of the dock. I started to reel it in, got it to the edge of the dock, yanked it, and it ended up hooking a nearby duck in it's leg. I trolled over there and unhooked it. That duck was as clam as it could be. It was strange.

One week earlier I was fishing a buzzbait in some pads when all of the sudden a giant owl came swooping down towards my bait. He turned right at the last second though. I guess he figured out it wasn't real. Haha.

I was Deadsticking a fluke at lake lewville and i got a hard thump , i thought it was a hybrid and out of nowhere a huge bird came out of the water with my fluke stuck to it..this guy was way down in the water column! I also had a rattle trap and a duck collide in mid air , i lost a good red eye shad that day.
