That Paddle Logic cart looks pretty awesome. I already have a C-Tug but it would be nice to be able to put the cart on the kayak while it was still in the water. With the Tug, lifting a loaded Propel 13 onto the cart on a boat ramp is not the easiest thing to do.

No drilling, priced reasonably, can use with multiple kayaks - what's not to like?

Deal alert: I just picked up the Sea to Summit XT SUP cart on clearance at the Academy Sports in Ft Worth on clearance for $19.88! These are usually priced at $140. It differs from the regular XT cart, in that it includes a suction cup handle for SUPs, and I am guessing that the strap is a bit shorter. I made an extension for pennies.

The problem with the C-Tug is the strap comes loose. It's a simple fix by replacing the stap with a ratchet style strap. Just don't over tighten it.

Here is my strap extension:

I had the 1.5" strapping and buckles from another project. It adds more that enough to use on all of my kayaks and canoes.

Put the cart on the boat while it's still in the water. It's easy.

I don't know if this applies to you, but I have seen quite a few people with the C-Tug use the strap buckle improperly. Mine has never come loose, but a friend who showed me his C-Tug (and convinced me to buy one) showed me the proper way to buckle it, and told me that many of the buyers don't do it right. When properly buckled the tension causes the buckle to grip the strap tighter. When done the way I have seen several people do it, the tension causes the bucket to release. If you're not sure you're buckling it properly, check the instructions.

You can view the C-Tug trolley strap cam-lock buckle instruction video to see the right way to fasten the strap.

I really liked my C-Tug but wit that being said I went through three frame halves this fall. The first time both ends of the axle where the green plastic clip is broke off. Ive had it for about 3 years and luckily bought it from ACK where I could find the receipt. Contacted ACK and went through a fairly long warranty claim process and about 5 weeks later received to new frames halves. Made one trip to the Brazos below PK and on my next outing noticed the plastic on one of the axles had broken off again. Another long warranty claim process and they sent me a brand new cart without even talking to me. I never drop my cart or throw it around, Im very careful with my gear so Im not sure what caused these problems. I however bought a Boonedox cart in the mean time and really like it. Ive only rolled it around in the driveway but I like the concept.

I kind of figured the plastic C-Tug might not be very tough. But the design is solid and easy to duplicate with 2x4 lumber. I made a few adjustments from the one in the video and now I've got a very strong cart that should last for years. Cost me $0 dollars to make from recycled lumber and parts.
