If I put my MK Fortrex 112 (36V) on 100% and takeoff it will shut down after about 30 seconds or if I'm fishing and using it repeatedly because of the wind, multiple press of the foot switch, it will shut down. By shut down I mean when I press the foot control it does nothing. After a short rest period of a couple of minutes it will work again. Seems like something is getting hot and shutting down, any help would be appreciated.

You should look for a circuit breaker that is self resetting. It could be bad, but the trolling motor is the most expensive possibility, so that's the problem. Sorry.

I'm going to check the ones I can find then take it in if I can't locate anything. I'm guessing they should be near the batteries in the back.

Check all electrical connections and make sure they're all tight, including clamps inside plugs... cost me 3 weeks without TM due to loose clamp in plug...

Hey ET, thanks for the reply. Can you go more in depth about the clamps and plugs. Thanks

If you do have a self-resetting C/B, replace it. They are less that $10. They are not moisture proof and can develop corrosion/oxidation internally thus creating a voltage drop and causing overheating and tripping. Be sure the C/B is the correct rating as specified in your TM manual.

That's what I'm doing today. Boris Marine in Azle gave me the same advice and he has them in stock. I'll replace that self resetting breaker and get back to you guys with the results.

Might be your brushes. I had similar kind of issue, but if I turned it slightly, it would stop working. Then after a little while it would start again, but if I slightly turned it again, same thing. Took it in and had brushes cleaned and was good as new. It was about an aggravating a problem as one could be.

It was a common issue with a few of the 101 models and I had it happen twice. It was the brushes as stated and they replaced them with zero problems after that. Mine would stop then start working again after I rocked the TM back and forth a few times.
