I was listening to the KILT 610 fishing report last weekend and they said the 61st street pier will be opening on Aug 14th.......anyone else hear about this happening?

Check out the 2nd to last paragraph at the bottom of the article; should be open tomorrow (Sat 14th like you stated) if they can get plumbing issue resolved.

I dont live near Galveston but love to fish there. I see that 61st street pier is opening, is that the only pier that is being rebuilt or are there any other ones?

The Galveston Fishing Pier is planning on rebuilding and hopes to reopen by next summer

I hear the lighting on the 61st street pier is pretty bad except for the t head . Someone please explain the conditions . TY

Bob. The lighting on the water is great ALL over the pier. When you come out of the building there is a light missing there over the pier so some think its abit dark. I didn't even realize it..but anyway the lighting at the T is great. The water is well lit. And and the pier itself isn't that dark. In my opinion anyway.

Thanks Colby . By the way I almost never go more that 100 yards out on pier except when Macs are running . I found fishing is better most times closer to shore.

Bob I think your underestimating the length lol. Its not a very big pier.

anyone got a report on the rebuilding of the Galveston Fishing Pier

Galveston Fishing Pier We are still working out the cost for reconstructing the main pier. Once this is done we can get started and we will have a better idea of what we will look like when we open. Our main objective is to get back out to the T-head.

I fished next to it about 2 weeks ago and it still looked the same as a couple months ago.

Beach Front Update! Well Guys 91st is coming along quickly! They are stripping the building and redoing that now. They have remade walways out as far as you get before the pylons end. I honestly think it will be done for june next year. But you never know. So Far I Impressed I'lle keep yall updated!

yeah i drove by yesterday.if they keep up the pace and have good weather.they have it done in no time.

A freind of mine emailed me and wanted to know why i have not been to the new 61 st pier ? I have and enjoyed it !!! BUT It is not handycapped freindly .:( It's a long walk with loose gravel, sand , deep inclines at both ends . I RECOMIND THIS PIER IF YOUR NOT HANDICAPPED . me and wife have to just wait for THE galveston FISHING pier to reopen .

The pier at La Porte is a pretty nice pier........I took a friend of mine that is in a wheel chair to fish it not long after it opened........

Hey guys thought I'de drop by and give yall a update. 61st has been closed on and off due to the weather. I live down by 91st and its COMING FAST! They have a solid wood walkway done so far. They have completely stripped the building and are building up from that. They have a light on the T-head I believe unless there was a boat tied up out there the other night. It looks REALLY good! Pictures are posted on there facebook page. I've been keeping up with it. But Sixtyfirst produced well for me and my friends this year. Caught abunch of good sharks and reds. And HAMMERED the smacks. Comeee onn MAY I need some shark weather!
