Weather was great BUT fishing was slow. Me and wife caught 3 undersize reds , 3 keeper drum 15- 19 inches , a 51/2lb sheephead and several dozen 1lb whiting . We fished off the Galveston Fishing Pier about the 2nd sandbar. used dead shrimp .

Friday 23 , Galveston Fishing Pier. Only 1 tide that was low so fishing was slow. Wife caught 3 keeper drum up to 6 lbs , I caught 2 keepers up to 4lbs . . We also caught a few nice whitings up to a lb . Saw a few nice Galftops( slimy things ) up tp 6 lbs. A few small sharks all undersize. A 38 in Jack. Maybe next friday tides will be moving ..... O Lord please let me catch something so big I will not have to lie .

Tuesday 27 , lots of black drum , a few keeper reds , a few bull reds , 2 spanish macs, 2 keeper sharks , lots of whiting and a few sand trout. OOOPS almost left out the Gafttop( slimy things ) On the gafttop tourney board 2 6 lbs gafttops are leading it................ Lord let me catch a fish so big I will not have to lie

Fri 30 , windy windy windy but did we catch the fish. Galveston Fishing Pier was wind blown but Me , My wife and my good friend Ted tied anchors on and caught a bunch of Blackdrums . We had 33 keepers ( no we didnt keep more than legal limits)ranging from 4lbs to 13 lbs. Also caught a bunch of whitings . 3 of which were 2 + lbs . Caught my first hardhead of year . Didnt see and sharks. Saw a few Mac.s caught and a Jack . No gafttops were seen but I didnt ask anyone if they were getting them ether. Alkso so a bullred landed , and 2 keeper reds landed . Had someone tell me they lost a flounder.

Weds 4 -4-07 poor day to fish windy rainy and bad tides ....Saw a few sharks caught , some stingrays , a lot of whitings , no red or blackdrums . We will try again friday ....

Fri 4-6 Went fishing by myself to the galveston fishing pier . I prefer to fish with wife and freinds but went alone. Had a fair catch, 2 keeper reds , 4 keeper black drum , and my first flounder of the yr ( 3 1/2 lbs ) . Saw a few bull reds landed , a few sharks , and a Jack.

I tend to stick to the bays for the most part, but that spring/summer time surf fishing is pretty cool.

April 10th weather sucks windy water muddy BUT they still catching keeper reds, and black drum . Also a few sheepheads and lots of oversize whiting . 6 lbs is still leading the Gafttop Tourney board. For thosre that dont know it . The Galveston fishing Poer holds an yearly Gaftop Tourney . Cost you nothing you are entered when you pay for going on pier . $300.00 for biggest Gafttop .

April Friday 13th , Galveston Fishing Pier. Wasn't as windy as weatherman was saying and didnt start raining till 11 am . My wife and I got 4 hours of fishing in. I caught 3 keeper drum black drums up to 8lbs and a handful of nice size whiting . My wige she had bad luck , she only caught a 23 inch red and a 24 inch red . Gawd I hate it when she outfishes me . Didnt really see anyone else catching anything ....

I went Friday night got there about midnight and left about 8:00 am. Caught some Whiting and gaftop (not big enough for the tourny). I only saw one Bull red caught the entire time. The water was very rough. Not a very good trip. Maybe I will have better luck this weekend.

What do you usually use for bait out there?

I dont know how often you fish there but the best fishing this time of year ( except for gafttop) is in the shallows . I ususally fish 100 yards from shore ..

Just take 45 south go across the big bridge and exit 61st street. Take that to the seawall and turn right. You will see the pier farther down. I think it is 98th street.

I fish there as much as I can and is usually 2 or 3 times a month. I fish both areas but Friday we fished the end of the pier. Trying to catch bull reds and sharks. Maybe I should try closer in.

school has put fishing on the back burner but, come May Ill be back in the fishing game!!

This time of year the keeper drum and keeper reds are running in the shallows within 100 yards of shore .. Jacks , sharks, bull reds are deeper . Gafttop the big ines all the way out to t head. Specks will be coming in shortly . Friday and Sat winds will be down ..... YEAH . Me and wife will be there friday morning . I'm the redneck on the stool around the 2nd light .

I am looking forward to the s. mack this year.. there already have been brief spurts of action when the water has turned green!!!

Dead shrimp this time of year is great . Its 90 th st and Seawall . Small little Pier only 1/4 mile long (1200 ft ) . Reason me and wife go their to fish > My wife is wants a CLEAN Restroom for her rump. Hey so do I . I a family pier good people , supplies and lots of fishing buddies . Plus you catch fish ....
