I had an hour yesterday starting at 4:30 to fish some ponds near my Dad's place in Nevada. John, the old neighbor down the gravel road, has 5 ponds on the property. The first one, a small pond about the sized of a baseball diamond, had the big bass!

Crappie hit at dark.

I didn't have my gear, my dad didn't care for baitcasters, so I used his Zebco 33 Platinum with red 12 lb. test. It was fun!

That's a size 10.5 tennis shoe, and an 11 rubber boot.

The two glasses photos are two different bass.

Yes, I put them on the ground to get a perspective shot, but I did catch and release!

I live in Heath and have been looking for bass ponds that my buddy and I would pay to fish. I am a retired executive who grew up in a small town with deep respect for property. My buddy is retired law enforcement who loves to fish.
We only catch, photo and release. If you can turn us onto bass fishing for a fee, please let me know by calling me at 972 877 0858.

Nice catch, IN65! Looks like a heck of a good day. Glad you got on some. Funny how we pay all kinds of money for fancy gear, but those old Zebcos will catch fish too!

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. --John Buchan

I did have fun with my Dad's Zebco, but here's what I normally throw. I do like the Sports Academy H20 Xpress reels. I have the Mettle M2, the Maxim and the Motive. I got the Motive for my Dad, but he didn't care for it. Thus, I found the Zebco Platinum, which is a pretty fast reel for a spincast. We each also use a Pflueger President 6935 spinning reels, but I only use mine as a backup.

I got in my workout this morning, now I'm heading out to bike ride the trails, and then I'm taking my Dad fishing at the ponds.

I'll find out more about John's view on letting non-resident parties come fishing.

I do know he a stubborn dude, but at times, he can be friendly.
