Got out early while it was still foggy. The bite was really slow but I still manages to get 10. I think it was slow because of the upcoming cold front. I threw plastic worms of various color, craws and crank baits. I caught most of the fish on a 1/2oz jig with a brown craw in around 20'.

Thanks for the report!

I am hoping to get down there over the holidays, I have heard the bite has gone a little deeper, I need to get out there and look around.

I live and guide on Medina. The bite right now is very slow. Try soft plastics from 10-30 fow. The bite is very hard to detect so use a good sensitive line and rod. As for colors I am liking dark like plum, green pumpkin or even black. Texas rig plastic dads and brushhogs are working. Work your baits super slow almost to the point you are falling asleep. If you think you are going slow, then slow down even more.

If anyone is interested in booking a trip you can call or text me at 210-326-3381. My name is Dan Carmony.

Was out at Medina yesterday New Year's Eve and may have been the best day I have had on the water anywhere in a long time, biggest fish was a 10 pound 2 oz fish and she was loaded with eggs, when I caught the fish there was with her in the 4 to 5 pound range could not tell if it had eggs or a male fish. She was released healthy. Primarily fish were is 10 to 15 foot but it had to be close to deep water , 30 foot plus, used creature baits Texas rigged primarily, if you got the patience use 3/8oz weight or less, the weight made a bigger difference than anything else, I guess because of the fall. Also caught solid fish on a umbrella rig as well.

Nice fish. My biggest out there this year was right at 3.5lbs.

With the weather the way it is right now it's going to be slow for a bit I think. I'm honestly looking forward to getting back out there in February and March. They were basically jumping in the boat those months last year.

Numbers are going down and quality is going up, what really benefited this lake for bass fishing was a few things, the first thing is when the lake went down to a trickle of a river and small lake, all of the stripers died out as well as most of the white bass, I know I have not caught one of those since the lake has filled, what did survive was a good population of black bass and I am sure catfish and there forage, when the lake filled and given some time to adjust with perch and shad spawns then they stocked it with the 200,000 Floridas and the survival rate was tremendous because all though there were predators but no where near the amount there is say in canyon when they releaseate bass there. These fish now average between 12 to 15 inches and healthy, what is really a huge plus for the lake is it had a great spawn last year as well, I have seen hundreds of 2 to 6 inch bass then. All of this said, it really depends on how the water in the lake is taken care of and water be respected and not wasted. There is still some giant fish in there and I would not be surprised if a 13 plus is not caught out of here in the next few years. Will be out there bright and early Sunday morning looking for 5.

Thanks Debra. Couple questions: Is Sunday 8 Jan 2017 every other Sunday tournament? Do you have to launch at Joes?

You are welcome! Yes tomorrow is the next event. Give Marcus a call at 210-413-3055 he can answer any additional questions you have.

I was planning on being there, but I laid my thumb open pretty good with a knife nursing the stitches now frown

From their Facebook page:

"We had 3 die hard boats show up this morning! 17 was the take off temp. Don holding took 1st and big bass with 5.15 for 3 fish and big bass of 3.5 pounds"

************
I congratulate those 3 diehard teams for venturing out in less than favorable conditions and to Don for figuring how how to catch them with the hand they were dealt to take the win clap
