I plan on hitting Towne lake and Bethany lakes to try and catch some on a fly. What fly would I have the best chance of getting bit on? Also are there's fish ok to keep and eat? I figured I'd catch a limit and eat them sice they will die anyways sice it gets so hot.

I went fishing this morning at Bethany lakes and caught two small trout using orange floating salmon eggs on #12 salmon egg hooks. This was my first time catching trout and figured this would be the time to ask: while researching the topic, why have most people recommended to use #12 - #14 hooks? To me, it looks like a #6 bait hook would be a good size and my buddy caught one today while we were out there on a #6. We couldn't handle the 18 degrees this morning and took off after an hour of fishing.

Caught my limit in literally 15 minutes. Threw out a hand full of corn, waited 5 minutes and then casted out with 2-3 kernels on a small hook, on top of the chum area and limited out in no time. Granted...some of the guys fly fishing, using lures, etc, gave me a "look" and I agree it's not the classic way of catching them, but dang...it was cold. Glad I didn't have to hang around too long. lol..
