Does anyone know if this unit will work in the lowrance ready cavity on the hobie pa with the total scan plate?

Yes it Will. Im actually putting a Humminbird Helix 7 on my 2016 Hobie PA14. No problems

I believe the 7ti totalscan and 7hds have the same transducer. Why the hds over the 7ti? Just curious, love my 7ti on my Outback

The HDS has a sharper,crisper,clearer screen. Also the ti can't run chirp and structure scan simultaneously, Not saying the ti isn't good cause it is but that's just the truth. I have now discovered I'll have to run two transducers cause that's how it works with 3D structure scan. One in the cavity and one on the side.

That's some serious dedication. I thought my 7ti was overkill but not in the least. I am sure you feel the same way about the hds.
