Nice fish Ashley! I've been there several times and the biggest fish I've caught might go a pound and a half. You've been there twice and haven't caught anything under a pound and a half. Good work man!

I'm confused about needing an OK fishing license wading the Red River below Dennison dam.
In the regs (from Texas Outdoor Annual) it first states: A person must have a valid Texas fishing license to fish from the Texas bank from Denison Dam to Shawnee Creek (see illustration). An Oklahoma fishing license is required to wade-fish or fish from a boat in these waters.
Then below that it states: On the Red River below Denison Dam, a person with a Texas fishing license may fish south of the line between border markers 1 and 2 on the referenced map.
Marker 1 is Dennison dam and Marker 2 is Shawnee creek. The line in question is in the river.
These 2 statements seem to me to contradict each other.
Am I missing something?
Is an OK license required to wade fish below the dam to Shawnee creek or not?
Also TPWD website states:
Due to an oddity of history (see sidebar), the entire width of the Red River between Texas and Oklahoma lies wholly within the latter state. Anglers standing on the Texas side need an Oklahoma fishing license, except when fishing from the bank between the base of Denison Dam and the mouth of Shawnee Creek a short distance downstream. Along that few hundred yards of river, as long as you do not enter the water, a Texas license is valid. Fish anywhere else, or wade out into the river, and an Oklahoma license is required.

I have a Texas license and wade closest to the Texas side. Also where I'm parked. If I'm ever stopped and questioned, I'll just deal with it then.

Here's the safe answer, if your feet are wet below the dam then you need an OK license.
Oklahoma owns the Red River to the vegetation line on the the Texas side of the river. Below Shawnee creek, you need an OK license to fish along the river edge on the Texas side. When I moved up here there was an OK game warden that used to write tickets regularly on the Texas side. Especially, near the hwy 75 bridge.
I haven't heard of anyone getting checked recently, but step into the Red River without an OK license at your own risk.

That seems to answer the question plainly. My question is that I am 74 (Jan) years of age, OK exempts a licence fee for me but do I need to get a licence that exempts me. Or is it ok just to fish?

I saw him over there this summer as well, though I was wading and he didn't say anything to me.

Hmm.... I have not been at Denison dam for numbers of year now. Do they still allow access to under the Denison dam? I looked at Google and it says the road is close. Is that not true?
