Stocked trout are finally here! Anyone have any tips on the types of lures these trout want? I'll mainly be fishing LLELA and some community ponds.

Small weight and hook. Bait with corn, nibbles, sometimes marsh mellows. Light line. Rooster tails and small jigs with curly tails.

LLELA is cool because it gives you the feeling of trout fishing in the rivers like they do in areas where trout can survive the summers. It does get really busy immediately after a release.

Me and my boys are headed out tomorrow. We use crappie bites, Never caught a fingerling stocker on a lure of any kind.

Went to Faulkner Park yesterday afternoon. About half a dozen people fishing. Only a couple casting lures. Fished about 30 minutes and caught two bass on Panther Martin brown trout pattern. Saw some trout hit on top but never got a bite. Did not see anyone else catch anything either.

About time for me to head below Tims Ford and trout fish on the Elk River. Just waiting on them to finish the winter draw down.
He is truly a sick individual.

We used to fish for them in Houston by using a popping cork ( so you can chunk it a mile) and an inline spinner of some sort about 24in down, just slowy rolling it in. Too bad to fish tasted so poor, we gave them all away. We are going on a TPW youth hunt this weekend at Steinhagen and huntmaster told me they had them there in a pond. I might bring my gear but they dont get me too excited.
Watch it happen, make it happen, or say what the hell happened. Capt. Phil Harris F/V Cornelia Marie RIP

I agree the taste can be a little mushy. Especially compared to a wild trout. However this year was very different. Normally fish in my area are 6 to 8" long with an occasional 10". This year all that I saw caught were 10 to 14" long. They had firm meat and were very clean tasting. Good stuff!!

Warm weather is finally here, and it's time to pull. I'll have seven varieties of squash later in the season.

I use Berkley Powerbait Mousetails. Pretty much catch one every cast with minimal wait. Usually fill my limit in about half an hour. I use a split shot weight about a foot above a size 12(I think) hook. I could be wrong on the hook size, I'd have to go look and don't feel like it right now. Just use a tiny hook, just a bit bigger than the head of the mousetail.
