I don't see a lot of posts about crappie on Ray Hubbard. Is there not as many crappie fishermen on this lake? Other than at the fishing barge. I go to Lavon normally and do just fine. Just curious about Hubbard in the winter.

If you don't mind fishing in crowds, Rowlett creek is holding crappie good right now. Other than that I would think there would be a few on the bridges and deep brush/ledges.

Hard to eat crappie out of the same creek that the waste water plant is on!

I can understand that but it does dump into the rest of the lake.

The waste water plant doesn't dump anything into the creek. The EPA would be all over that. As for winter crappie on Hubbard, do you have a boat or beating the banks?

usually water that comes from waste water treatment plants is cleaner than what we drink anyway.

A marine biologist told me the reclaimed water that is dumped into the Rowlett is much cleaner than the water that is in the creek. From what I understand, the reclaimed water is one process away from being drinkable. Anyways, long story short, eat all the fish you want out of there, it's all good thumb

If that's the case you aren't going to want to eat any fish from any lake around here. Almost every lake around here has some sort of plant wastewater running into it not to mention many other pollutants.

I took the boat out to Hubbard this afternoon for a couple of hours, fishing mainly under the 30 bridge, but didn't do very well...

Just wandering if there was any new news about crappie on Hubbard. Trying to catch some, doesn't even have to be a limit but preferably somewhere i can get my 18ft flat bottom too.

Fished from 10-25 ft today in boat slips. Not one crappie bite. Caught several bass though. When jigging this time of year, do you just dead stick your bait? Thats what I was doing. Maybe someone can steer me in the wright direction for this time of year when it comes to jigging.

I wouldn't take a boat in Rowlett creek. You are going to get hit with jigs and bobbers from the bank fishermen if you go too far up. Plus, the water is really clear so it might spook the fish.

What marina you fishing? I fish a slip at a marina on Mother Hubbard, I've been doing very well fishing 18-24 feet in 26-27 feet of water in our stall. Fishing on a particular dock that's heavily brushed out with wood and PVC. The crappie population is very, very good. I'm catching so many 8 & 9" fish it's ridiculous, but the bigger fish will show up sometime during the day if your patient. The crazy Texas winter weather isn't helping either. Need a COLD February to bring the really big fish in. Let me know if I can help Nate

Went out this evening by some marinas throwing bobbers with a mix of minnows and jigs, only caught 3 in Chandlers Landing marina all off minnows and all keepers, but went ahead and threw the back. Roughly around 12-15Ft of water is where they were at. Some slips have crappie condos below there slip that hold a lot of crappie but couldn't find any.

You will run into some not very happy bank fisherman.

The harbor bay marina has the crappie condos . My son and I were there about 2 weeks ago and they were moving the boat slips again and they had to pull the condos out to move the slips. We saw at least 2 of them. We fished there for the first time last summer and have caught some nice slabs there mainly on minnows. When it warms up more they slow down because the alligator gar move in closer to the marina.
