Hello all,

not sure this is the right place to post this but my name is Joe and I am from Huntington Beach CA. I will be moving to Galveston at the end of this month, I got accepted to Texas A&M at Galveston! Over here I mainly spearfish, surf, and fish for calico bass. I'm really looking forward to doing some inshore fishing in Galveston, it looks like a blast. Hopefully I will be able to meet some of you from this forum to do some fishing!

Welcome Joe and Congrats being accepted to A&M here. Have you visited here yet? It's quite different here....fishing too!
Inshore waters are no where near as good looking as over there. I was stationed at Pendleton in the mid 60's and haven't been back. If you spearfish here, it will be offshore a bit bc the water is usually dirty in the bays and beach areas. If it wasn't for the Houston Ship Channel...one could just about walk across the bays here!! Speckled trout, Redfish, Flounder, Cobia, Spanish Mackeral, Black Drum, Sharks, and a variety of panfish are in these areas. Spearfishing is Offshore a ways.
Just wanted to say hey and welcome. Gotta lot of nice folks on here and willing to provide you with as much info as possible. Remember....it's "Winter Time" here and fishing is a seasonal thing for most folks. Spring time is a whole different ball game. The fish are still here but at times hard to get. Good Luck

Thank you guys! Can't wait to fish and I'm looking into doing an offshore trip with Keith Love to dive for wahoo in January or February. I have a 14' Kaboat and small outboard, hopefully I can use that for some fishing in the bay!
