Santa is buying my whole family new inshore reels. That's 5 people and 5 new reels to spool. I plan to use mono backing followed by 20lb braid with an appropriate mono leader per targeted species. What's a good braid to buy?? I want opinions on good string and plan to buy a 1lb spool.

KastKing braid is good quality in my opinion and not as expensive as the name brands out there. Been using it for years. Amazon sells it and I think there is a sale right now. Eposeidon is the seller.

Sufix 832 is the best I have ever used. It goes on sale frequently at Academy and Cabelas.

Power Pro (especially the Slick 8), Sufix 832, and Fins Windtamer are the ones that get the top reports from the guys I fish with. Although I mostly fly fish, I have been using the standard Power Pro for years with nary a complaint. I have several small spinning reels loaded with 10# Power Pro that are used for white bass, specks, and reds.

I've been throwing the new SeaGaur braid called Kanzen and I'm impressed after about 20 trips. I've used all the others... twice.. and before Kanzen the Suffix Performance was still the best all around, although it was a little loud. SeaGuar improved slightly over the Suffix.. it's a little thinner and cast a little better while retaining strength, durability, wind knots, and backlash removal. I'm tough on gear and take extremely hard looks and multiple parameters with braids.
I would still throw Suffix Performance as well.. it's a very good line and has proven it self to me. Kanzen might just nudge it out, but both are very good.
