I'm looking to take my son and daughter fishing on Lake Lewisville. We are members of the Nautical boat club and have access to a fishing pontoon located in Cottonwood Creek Marina.

Any recommendations on what to fish for this time of year and where?

Thanks!

Hybrids are schooling late on main lake points, LMB where at 16-19 foot on points fishing plastics. But it is slow and spotty. I'd go for crappie or white/hybrid bass. Just look at the TP&W book on how to tell the difference between the white and hybrid bass so you don't keep short fish or over limits.

If I'm fishing for Crappie, would you use live bait or plastics?

Talked to a guy at Academy yesterday who said he limited on crappie at the Cottonwood slips on Wednesday.... so there is that..

I'll be out on the lake sometime this weekend targeting crappie. Haven't been out since this cold hit so should be interesting. Depth anyone?

Happy New Year!!! Drum, gizzard shad and bluegill in that order. I bring fresh bluegill just in case I can't catch me some drum and gizzards.

Any tips on shore fishing or what area to check out for good cats? I've tried the barge with no success in the past. No boat here, local ponds are a bust for me.

Take 35n to Swisher st.
Exit Swisher and take a right at the light. Go over the toll bridge and take your first right. That's Garza st. Go until it dead ends, park and fish. Hybrids, sandbass, catfish etc...
