Be careful. Be smart. Don't go out alone, especially on your first outing.

A friend of mine has one, I've been out kayaking with her a few times. The downsides are tracking and being blown by the wind. Even with the skeg, its tracking is not very good. Windy days are a hassle. The other thing she didn't like is how it feels on the water, you're basically sitting on a big cushion so you feel "isolated" from the water. She did like the price and the ease of storage and has fun with it. Have fun and be careful.

The Nueces caught a lot of runoff from the rains so be careful with the currents especially if you are close to the main river channel.
Not familiar with that kayak and durability could be a factor as the river there has a lot of dead trees and stickups that can reek havoc on a plastic boat.
Even if you are not going far from shore, wear a PFD, (floatation device) and be safe.

sounds like you're familiar with the area. you are right about the trees but i'll be taking it out for a test run at Boynton lake. its a part of the nueces that doesnt flow since its levied off.

heard its like being on a floating bed. I'll wait and see lol. im hoping on getting a small weight or something to anchor around. but with the recent rains im only limited to one open area to test it. once i get comfy, ill take out in the other two areas i fish at.
