New postPosted: Sun Dec 04,
Ok guys, we have officially opened up a new trip to try this year! It is a longrange trip I have been wanting to do for a while now.

This is a "reverse" 60 hr trip (the big travels will be at night) leaving at night and returning in the morning. Tuna will be available, but more of an afterthought, as the only fishing night will be the middle one, and hopefully most will be licking thier wounds after a hard first day of fishing....

Anyway, this is my experiment in running a wahoo heavy headboat trip out of Texas... If half as good as i see the possibilities in my minds eye, i will try to schedule at least 3 of these a year (one each jan, feb, march) in the future) This is still a very limited load trip with a max of 18 on the Pelican. Regardless of the wahoo fishing we have 2 full days of fishing in the gardens area, so there will be a 2 day limit of big aj and good bottom fish... probably do a few hours of deep dropping as well if conditions will allow.

I have blocked off the whole week for the Pelican, so we have 4 different go days to adjust the trip if needed for weather reasons... please plan your schedule likewise so we have full maneuverability with weather...

Anyway the price is $1k pp and you get to bring your own food and drinks. Feel free to contact me directly, or call Deep Sea Headquarters at 361 749 5597 to book.

Also if this is a bit out of your comfort zone... we still have spots on the Dec 30 Pelican 48hr floater trip, either way a great gift to yourself for Christmas.

I expect that this will be a great trip for James and anyone who participates. Not only for trolling for Wahoo at the Gardens but the bottom fishing is completely off the charts. There will be AJ in the 80 - 90 lb. range caught and big grouper too. not to mention tiles and other exotic bottom dwellers. And if I had the money I'd sure jump on.

This boat has always been good at getting Wahoo. Going back a few years here but we used to charter the Pelican in Jan-Feb-Mar for 12 hour trips that targeted them. We had one trip where 10 of us got 13 Wahoo (sorry, no pic) and never made it past Southern/Baker areas.

Here is one pic from one of our 12 hr. trips ....

Can't wait to see how this works out! Too busy building a house this coming year, but will be settled in by the next and will be fishing offshore again! I love fishing for a variety of species instead of sitting at one rig two days

This sounds like a very interesting trip for me as well but I will not be able to do this this season. I hope this trip goes out and would be very interested in doing this next year if you do more in the future.

Thanks for posting this. I was wondering when and if this would move forward after hearing about it on our trip.

James and crew are some of the hardest working fishermen in Port A. They work hard to put you on fish and give you all the pointers needed to be successful.

Tiffany and I will consider this trip. We had a blast on the November Tuna trip.

This trip is going over better than a lot of folks expected. Filling up. The weather is the key. If the weather allows it then this could be an awesome trip.

Don't let it fill up Bobby. I got a clue, Tiffany reserved the dates for leave.

It looks like the weather will be doable.

The problem is we just have Reelfun/Billyjr. to represent us on this trip and you KNOW how he is about reports.
