Is the power plant running out there? I'm going to be out there Saturday for a tournament, I was out there on the 23rd and it wasn't running. The temp was in the 70's it was just an off day of fishing.

This time of year should be close to 100 at the ramp.

I was told yesterday that Monticello would be up and running Soon. I wish they had a website so we could see if it is running or not.

If it was easy, everyone would do it

Lake Welsh is down to 2 units, unit 1 and 3 are still up for now but running as needed. You can call them at 903-855-0043 to see if either is running. Unit 2 was closed in April of this year. EPA will eventually shut down the whole plant and probably Monticello too at some point. Don't think even Donald Trump can stop it. You can check out SWEPCO website for more info.

Swepco runs a plant here till 2 years ago it burned a lot of coal 85% is what I was told. Now it burns natural gas mostly and burns 15% coal. So the lake will be 70 at its hottest. Really sucks. Still has big fish in it. But hardly ever at the discharge. And the lake is so deep can't fish most of it. The intake cove is one of the best but it's been closed off. Prolly 20% of the lake. Oh well.

I don't think they will close it down in the next 5 years. They put almost $500,000 into it. Unit 2 as going off line on 2016 anyway.
Texas is fighting the EPA about Mont. and I know the EPA lost on somethings but is it enough to keep it open.

Coach, I think in my post I said unit 2 was closed in April of this year. I wouldn't count on them being able to keep unit 1 & 3 online for 5 years. The EPA carries a big stick. Trump has took sides with the coal producers but he's not going to tackle the EPA, too risky even for him. You can go on SWEPCO website and read the news regarding their future plans.

They just invested many dollars at Welsh on the 2 scrubbers. Look at the plants 3 generators, they don't have stacks anymore. It isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
