I launched around 9:30 am Friday morning from Nails Creek SP and headed straight to Yegua creek in search of crappie. Crossing the open lake was a bit bumpy. I almost surfed a few of the waves. I put in the hours fishing the deeper holes of the creek and managed to fill the stringer with crappie, and I caught just as many bass. Most of the crappie were good size with only 3-4 under size crappie caught and released. A roadrunner with curly tail grub caught the most fish, but I also caught fish using a Wally Marshall slabalicious grub. I saw lots of baitfish activity on the surface. An eagle flew off from the big dead tree near the mouth of the creek as I was returning back to the launch. The lake crossing going back was so rough I wet my pants! I paddled against a headwind with waves crashing across my bow. Even with the wind, waves, and wet pants it was a good day to be on the water.

Success, well done, the wet pants were apparently well worth the enjoyment you had..

Nice. Those waves are not any fun. You never know what your going to see when you come off the calm waters of Nails or Yegua and enter the open lake.

I could only watch so many fish tales videos before I just had to go up the creek and try my luck. And now we will all be watching for your reports to show us when the whitebass arrive.

The paddle across from Nails SP to the mouth looks to be a little over a mile from google maps, which isn't unreasonable. BUT is there any closer spots to the mouth of the Yegua to launch a kayak?

Can anyone drops some pins on a google map for a noob future-kayaker like me to navigate to Yegua Creek? PM if needed. Thanks in advance
