well was dreaming I was on my normal white river run in the fall for Browns in the dark. Back up plan wasn't as good as the white(as far as size) but no complaints on numbers averaged 40 or so a night. As always the case 2am is magic hour for trophy Browns. Started at midnight fished till 5am 3 nights 12-1:30am and 3-5am almost all rainbows but in that slot caught Browns like sandbass lol. Looking at my pics I was like the fish looks smaller until I realized I was using mine 9 foot six weight this year instead of the 7'6" 3 or 8'6" 4. They seem to alternate every few years this year was definitely a streamer year a big size 2 black woolly bugger did the trick for almost every brown along with a few on a 3 inch long bunny sculpin pattern. There have been many years though with Fish between 25 and 30 inches that they want tiny scuds in the dark. Didn't like the heavy rod to much this year but needed to get the bugger a lot further than I do on the white. Most were on a long upstream quartering cast with multiple up stream mends to get deep. As the fly got strait out let it tighten up and swing. Most fish hit right as it got strait down stream or right at the first strip. I didn't have time to find spots like I have on the white so didn't explore much. Still had a lot of success none the less. For any that have seen any of the Browns I target in the dark. I got a bit lazy and in a rush with a new spot and short time. Didn't put my light set up up for better pics sorry they are a bit blurry. Most were between 15-18 with several over 19 and one right at 20". Like I said no complaints but really wish I would have had my normal vampire week on the white. At least it was not as hard to get the sleep pattern back with just a couple of days LOL. Very weird year with the weather it was still mostly hens very few males. Oh well overall a great trip with a lot of fish.

For those thinking about trying the nymphs in the dark. Take these indicators and a 5/32 drill bit( I keep one in the top pocket of my flyfishing pack so I can just grab my rechargeable drill and throw it in)drill right down the hole and on a sidenote get the drill up to full speed before you hit the hole and be very careful and don't hit your finger this is from experience LOL. The glow sticks you can get a 4 pack for a buck at academy. Don't forget they don't have a slit in them so you have to thread the indicator on before you tie on your fly use the glow stick for the peg and it's a perfect fit. The red ones Will not spook the fish is bad but they are hard to see after only two hours. I get the green ones and break them the night before I want to use them especially when in cooler weather the one I broke the day before the first night I used the first two nights and it was still glowing. It was actually skill glowing a little 4days later but hard to see. Then just run any normal double nymph rig you would normally fish and watch the glow for a twitch. I know some of you have seen these but both of those Fish came on a size 16 to 18 scud. So don't be afraid to go to small in the dark I have been fishing the Ozarks for 12 years in the fall almost all of it in the night time I've had many years you could not buy a bite on a streamer but you could catch them on size 16 to 20 midges even Like they were going out of style.
