Had my life threatened by management and was told no more Dodge vehicles in our fleet....ever.

That is all.

Life threatened by your own management or FCA's? Why?

My company. Too many recalls, the local dealerships suck and I guess the last straw was a 2015 leaving the wrong person stranded 300 miles from home. Couldn't get out of 1st gear.

I don't have any ecodiesels in my fleet if it makes you feel any better. In fact, we only have two trucks. Mostly cars and suvs.

Interesting. I think most Ford/Chevy/Dodge cars are pretty poor quality personally. Compared to Toyota, Honda, and Nissan anyway.

As far as trucks go, I think quality has really leveled out. In the 90s, I didn't think Ford made a very reliable pickup. Dodge picked that up in the late 90s and early 2000s. Chevy made great trucks back then but I don't think they're quite as good now. Toyotas were and are probably the most reliable, but I think generally speaking, the big 3 are catching them.

I will say this - my 2016 Ram ED is a much, much higher quality vehicle than my 2002 Ram 1500 was. But it wouldn't surprise me one bit if Dodge was building some sub-par cars and SUVs. It's really hard to beat Toyota & Ford in the car/SUV market IMHO.

Don't have much info on it, but I read today that a private law firm is trying to start a class action suit against FCA and Bosch because they think Ram did the same stuff to get the ecodiesel to pass emissions tests that VW did.

Heck I don't know I don't concern myself with what most people think of their vehicles. My truck is 9 months old and close to 20k miles on it and I drive less now than I ever have. I know about my vehicles from my experience.

Ive only had two that were unreliable. One was a Honda with way too many miles on it and poor service history and the other was a dodge 5.9 cummins with poor service and a tanking fuel system. Dead battery a starter or alternator or water pump every so often maybe but nothing out of the ordinary.

Hadn't heard about the lawsuit.

So I guess the question is: if our EDs get bought back, what is the next best truck as far as mpg that can tow at least 8k lbs comfortably?

I don't think so either. When I started trying to consider what I would replace it with if it got bought back, I realized that there really isn't anything comparable for folks who want maximum mpg with half ton towing capability.

Sometimes I beat myself up over buying a 2016 F150 instead of an ecodiesel. Then I remember that a big part of my decision was the really, really poor service I've had from my nearest two Ram dealerships. Not only poor service, but dirty, cluttered waiting areas. I am jealous of reported mileage though.

Wait till for wants to charge you $400 for a mass produced painted steel wheel that should cost about $50.

I'm no fan boy, I have owned GM, Ford, and Dodge. Currently own a ford and a dodge, but will always buy the product I think is best for me. I would never factor in a dirty cluttered waiting area into the decision.

Yes its out. I read today that EPA has found some software that FCA included on the truck that was not disclosed to the EPA and is a violation. At the time they haven't determined if it is a cheat device or not.... but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Hope all goes well with the process of fix/buy back/whatever happens.

I'm not even worrying about it right now. Continuing to drive my pickup that gets 27 mpg and enjoy it. If they buy it back and pay me fairly, great. If they make a software fix and it doesn't effect performance, great. If they impact performance and give me a payout, great. Shouldn't be a major downside unless they start trying to rip us off. If they do, class action lawsuits will ensue.
