Has anyone had any experience using the lowrance total scan plate for the hobie pa? I just purchased an elite 7ti and I wanted to use that plate for a simple clean install with no arms or extra pieces, but I was just a little worried about loading and unloading with the transducer protruding out from the hull. Anyone have this set up or any thoughts on it?

I just bought that exact fish finder and decided to give this transducer plate (pic below) and it is the only way to go in my opinion. I have only had it on for two trips, but both trips I forgot that it was under there. Drug it across rocks, grass and boat ramp. No problems at all with it. Don't even think it was scratched. Do yourself a favor and get this sun visor too.

Yea this transducer plate is probably easier to install than those ones that hang off the side/back and probably cheaper as well.
I have only used it on the water for two trips. It is like any fish finder you will definitely have to put the time in to learn how to use it. Fish don't just jump underneath it and start eating.
That being said I can really see how it could help once you learn it. The 2d/chirp or whatever its called is amazing. I found myself using the downscan/chirp and chart most of the time. The touch screen is awesome for labeling GPS way points.

If you fish one body of water a lot the sonar log upload to the insight genesis could be really helpful.
