I fish mine with a 3/16th oz. weight, Texas rigged. I also do real well with the hook hidden (called weedless, like a Texas rig) on a drop shot hook. If they do not bite the drop shot, I then wacky rig if for that bite. Works great. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Fish flukes in the same areas you fish the Dinger. I use a 3/0 wide gap hook and either use a nail weight in the head or put a small drop shot weight on the hook. You can also use a 1/4 oz swim bait hook and fish it deeper. It also works well on a double fluke rig (see youtube video's on that) and also on a Carolina rig.

Yes. When fishing the super fluke and the Yum dinger weightless I will switch between the two to see what the fish like best. I use the same set up, rod, reel, and 3/0 wide gap hook.

Caught a lot of fish this year on this rig:
4 inch Yum Dinger (green pumpkin or black/blue)on a 1/8 oz. Owner shaky head jig with screw lock and 4/0 hook, 30 lb. braid with 12 lb. leader, spinning gear. The smaller size dinger has a nice shad look about it.

In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

thank you for your advice. will follow.

and thanks everyone else. i bought what i though was green pumpkin, turned out it was watermelon seed. i managed to bring in 3 dinkers (way better than before) in 1 hour today while following some techniques adviced here. but i also did experiment with different techniques, the one that worked best was once dinger landed i counted to 15, thats when 2 bites hit during fall. after counting, i slowly rose my rod then reeled in slack counted to 10 then repeated.

i am also going to get me some super flukes and poke at them.

and like i said, thanks everyone for the tips and advice. i feel like next year will be an awesome year!

To start with on the fluke get watermelon seed or watermelon/red and also get you some Chartruce Dip N Dye (garlic scent). Dip the split tail part of the fluke in the dye then dip it in the water to "set" the dye so it won't rub off. It will rub off some if you do not dip it in the water.

Watermelon seed, watermelon/red, and green pumpkin are all good colors of Dingers and Super flukes to start with. I wacky rig Dingers most of the time and I use the O ring tool to slip an O ring on to the middle of the Dinger to make it last longer. This tool can be found at most local tackle shops. I use a Gamakatsu round hook with the weed guard in a 1/0 size. The O ring will let you fish the bait longer. It can be torn up pretty badly and still work with the O ring. Another option is to use a short section of shrink tubing but you will need to cut it into small strips and take a few with you along with a lighter for that method. I also use the Yamamoto Senko in a few colors that aren't made by Yum and I use the V&M chopstick as well. The BPS brand is an inexpensive alternative that will catch fish also. Watermelon candy and watermelon candy/red are two more colors that I like.
All of these are a straight body soft stick bait very similar in shape and they wiggle when wacky rigged.

When I fish one Tx. rigged weightless I will choose a Lake Fork Tackle hyper stick, or a Grande Bass Snake-O. I like the Snake-O in Falcon craw color, Trophy hunter, and watermelon/red. I like the hyper stick in green pumpkin/purple/gold and watermelon/red. I use an Owner J hook or Owner rigging hook either a 3/0 or 4/0.
