While scouting for bass I always keep a crappie rig in the boat.
Had a tip from a friend that some were being caught so I decided to check it out.
Only got to fish for them about two hours but caught some with the biggest being 2 pounds.
I have always caught crappie around brush but these guys were siting on rock from 16ft to 28 ft. I'd pitch it out and hop it back.

Nice fish! Thanks for the technique report!

I would rather die finding out there was no God than die finding out there is.

that's a fun way to catch them.
Hop... hop.... hop.... THUMP!

WTG!
Looks like a 3/16 jig head?
Makes it easier to get down in deep water and to maintain contact.

But I gotta ask, why were you hunting ditch pickles in the first place! lol

grin

haha... take it easy on him, he's in the middle of his conversion...probably not sure what he's feeling...lol

The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?

Honestly
Crappie fishing was/is my first love.
I was slip/barge fishing long before I got a boat and got sucked into the bass tournament trails.
I'll never give up crappie fishing that bite is addicting.
During the summer I actually take a break from bass and chase crappie. I will fish for anything that swims in the lake.
I was using a 1/8th oz. head that I pour.

There ya go! Now's not a good time to sell all your bass gear, I'd wait till late January! You'll get a better price!
