Bruce I'm going back tomorrow are you going to be out there? I'm the guy with the little kayak with no motor. I would love to know if they were still around the same area as last time we met. Still no electronics so I will be fishing blind again.

Same area putz. And others areas too. I'll pm you when I get a chance. Without electonics trolling in that area is your best stradegy. Then throw out a marker buoy when you start catching them.

Bruce, just want to say thanks for the posts. I was able to take my dad down and get into some fish. Not as good as you do, but pretty good for our first time on the lake.

Humminbird got the best customer support bar none!! My unit brokeed. Send it to them they fixed it and ship it back the same day they recieved it. Very user friendly simple to maneuver and adjust. I got the discontinue 1199 model. The new helix is taking their place and is even better. Side scan is amazing on the Humminbird. Very clear images. I personally would get the one with the biggest screen even if I had to work three jobs to get it. You won't regret having a big flat screen on your boat and won't flinch your eyes a lot to see fish on the screen. That's just me but I'm sure Lowrance is just as good. Might wanna ask some of the guys on here how they like their lowrance. Side images and map chip with gps is a must on any of the units you decide to get no matter the size or models.
