Since my boy was off school all week and I needed to take some vacation, I took this week off. We ended up not traveling this week for Thanksgiving so we fished as much as possible. Monday we went to Ray Roberts for some sandbass fishing. Got on the water around 9:00 ( a little later than we wanted) and found some birds working. We fished around the birds til about 11:00 then went crappie fishing. Caught 8 crappie, 4 of those keepers, on a main lake brushpile. Finished the day sandbass fishing in 30 ft of water. Caught 100+ fish. Only kept 30-40 of the biggest fish.
On Wednesday, Walker, Sandjohnny and I headed up to Texoma for the day. Got up there and the wind was blowing a little more than we wanted it to but we weren't about to drive back home without giving it our best. Spent a while looking for some fish while trying to stay protected from the wind. Finally found the bait and birds in a cove but unfortunately the fish weren't in there with them. By this time the wind had layed down some so we headed back out. That's when sandjohnny caught this 8.5 lbs striper. Ended the day with the 8.5 and my sons good box fish and several small fish.
Our last trip of the week was the best trip of the week. We decided to return back to Ray Roberts. This time, with a friend I went to high school with, we got the early started I wanted too. Got launched and headed out of the no wake zone at 7:09. Went to the area we found the birds working on Monday. I think we woke the birds up because they weren't flying yet, just sitting on the water. After about 30 mins they finally found the bait and it was fish on. The birds work all morning long. After they sat down we went looking for more fish to finish out the day. Ended the day at 12:00, with our best trip of the year with 200 fish on the clicker. Man, I love fishing this time of the year!
And this is the result of the weeks fishing trips catching up with my boy
