I am going to be fishing Conroe for the first time tomorrow and will be launching out of Stow A Way marina just north of 1097 on the east side of the lake. If you have any pointers as to general pattern and baits to try please let me know. Taking my 7 year daughter and would appreciate any help to make it a successful day.

I'll be up there somewhere, launching on the south end. Not really sure what I'll do, but can't beat a shakey head for the kiddos.

Since I am not a bass fisherman, I have noticed that they seem to target the first cove east from Stowaway Marina....aka: Weir Creek Cove south shoreline. Just put some sweet brush out front and they seem to be jerking 2-4 lbr's regularly.

Now you tell me!

I was back up there Saturday, caught 3, none over 16". Not sure if it is the weather or that I just plain suck! I'm going with the weather.

Well to confirm your thoughts, it was tough. Was there Saturday, 3 keepers off a dozen or so fish. I only caught 4 fish and non kept, the rest caught by my guide for the day.

Indeed! But I've been doing pretty well on G-tails lately. Almost everything in 2-5' after 3:30.

That's good to hear bc I go from 20-30 on Fayette to 2-3 a day on conroe....the lake is in my head big time....

The lake is about target fishing, docks, brush piles and SOME, NOT ALL riprap...absolutely have to be able to read electronics, bc most of the lake looks good but has 0 fish.....

And colors matter.....

Im A terrible bass fisherman to start with and going to conroe makes it even harder on me. I usually fish there jan-March for hybrid striper. I really enjoy chasing them.

now is not a good time for Conroe. cold fronts shut it down pretty bad, plus all the water rising over a foot didn't help. My advice is to wait till conditions are more stable.

Aww come on now! Only a foot, try a foot and a half! I was up there yesterday, water way up, 60 degrees plus or minus a degree, and in some areas muddy. I caught two dinks. But it is always good to be on the water.
