I bought a Lowrance Hoodk 5 with the HDI downscan mid/high transducer. It looks like a skimmer transducer. I've mounted many shoot thru the hull like the X65 one I currently have. BUt I am thinking about mounting this on on the transom because it has a built in temperature sensor and because I think transom mount may give me a better signal.

So what I am wondering is, have any of you mounted them on the transom of a Triton TR-x series boats and if so Where on the transom have you gotten these to work well? Thanks.

HEre is the transducer :

Here are the instructions:

Here is my transom area:

This is where my ducers (skimmer and LSS-1) are located on my TRX186. I get good pics from both locations. I receive full left/right scans from the LSS-1 which is under the step and no interference.

UJC, Thanks so much for this info. Exactly what I was wondering. So you mounted yours under the step. This is where I was thinking of mounting mine. I have a 98 model TR-18. So you get good returns at a moderate speed across the lake? Mine has kind of a double step. I will probably get rid of the speedometer tube.

If you have a jackplate, another option would be a Transducer Shield and Saver mount.

Thanks, that is a neat website. I don't have a jackplate though.
