Due to the growth of the Central Division coupled with the cozy size of Lake Tyler, the February 25, 2017 event on Lake Tyler will be moved to Lake O the Pines. The weigh in site will be announced at a later date.

With roughly 60-70 teams from several local schools close to Lake Tyler that fish the East Division who could possibly be fishing in this event, we could easily see over 200 teams on Lake Tyler, which absolutely will not work.

Thank you in advance for your understanding the necessary reasons for this making this move.

Ken, am I understanding you correctly that teams that aren't in the central division can fish events outside of their division?

Yes, you may fish any THSBA event, although they will not get the points from the events that are not in their respected division. Make sense? They could still win and get the scholarship money from boat captain side pot. Also the prizes.

Ken, I understand that the decision has been made and will see you guys at the Pines. Was the option of only allowing teams from the Central division, given the size of Tyler, considered? It handled the championship a few years back pretty well, imo. Can't remember the size of that field, though.

As it has been from the inception of the THSBA, we allow any team to fish an "out of division" event, even though the out of division teams do not accumulate points fishing in those events, and even states so in the last sentence of rule #2.
Their were 170 in the championship a few years ago. Any more than that is way too many and we strongly feel that there would be if it stayed on Lake Tyler. Whitehouse has 20 teams, Bullard has 16 teams, as well Arp, Troup, Chapel Hill, Lindale, and Frankston all have numerous teams that possible could have showed. We strongly feel we are adverting a huge over crowding problem by switching venues 3 months out.

Have they came up with a weigh-in site yet?

We meet on January 21st to set next years lakes and schedules. We will pick a spot there. More than likely Sandy Beach. Not 100% yet
