Check your sensor on your oil tank "clean it" also disconnect your battery to reset your computer.
Fill your tank and give it a try.

If it was easy, everyone would do it

Your sensor may be bad, if it thinks your oil tank is empty you won't get any spark, you can jump the wires to see if you get spark and this is just too see if it bad, then you can buy a new sensor

What? Only thing that the oil leak can do to stop the spark is get the ECU plugin wet with oil. The oil alarm doesn`t stop the spark. Check the normal things like the kill switch. You sure the motor didn`t load up with oil causing it not to start?

only things that stop fire are kill circuit, trigger, stator, switch boxes, coil (not so much). "usually"... how well versed are ya on how tha motor works?

I'm okay on how it works, I have to finish checking the other cylinders. I know cylinder 1 doesn't have any spark, once I can get back on it I'll check the obvious stuff.

There is nothing that has too do with oil or oiler that will prevent spark....

i know nothing about mercs, but gotta ask, i would think the oil sensor could shut the engine down, how would it shut it down as a fail safe or does it just let the engine continue without oil? seems the ecu/ecm would recognize that and shut down spark vs fuel

Don't know where ya'll gettin your info but there is not any kinda sensor on that motor that will shut it down... here's a "list" of tha only things that will kill that motor...

1. turn tha key off
2. kill switch circuit, lanyard
3. run outta gas
4. hit a big [censored] stump
5. motor locks up
6. something mech. and/or electrical gives up.. ie: fuel pump, stator/trigger

oops forgot... one thing some may call a sensor but its a switch.. mercury switch....
