It's a good time to get out in the marsh. I got out for a little while Tuesday afternoon and after some searching, found good numbers of fish. Too many targets at once tends to spoil my cast, but between all the tailing loops and tangles, I managed bringing 3 slot reds to hand, including a really beefy 25"+ that took me into the backing. 2 fish came on a little mostly black hackle crab and the big one in the Avalon.

I'm jealous. On my first redfish trip to West Galveston about a month ago I spent $450 and 6 hours on the stand just to see, 4 fish, make 2 casts, hook and loose the only bite. Frankly it was the most difficult fishing I have ever done. Can't wait to try again. Which marsh did you fish? P.S. well done.

I was in Swan Lake at Surfside. I went out again on Friday and got one little redfish. I didn't see much at all, it was very windy. One thing about the marsh is that things change pretty quickly.
I love the hunt for fish, but it usually is a pretty tough deal many days spotting the fish and mastering all the moving parts to get off a good shot. One good fish can make a day for me. I've had many days where I see fish, but mess up some aspect of the chain of events to bring a fish to hand. For a while, I got good at the find, stalk and cast, but seem to mess up the hook set time and again.
