Everybody is putting this unit on sale for $499.99. Good deal? I have been looking at the Helix 9 for $799. Any input welcome.

That is a super deal; CHIRP and downscan capability. If you buy it ask the store if they can install the latest software update; it's a very important update. If not get it here: http://www.lowrance.com/en-US/Software-Updates/hook-software-20/The main complaint on that unit was the slowliness of the gps and the update correct at 100% that problem. I know 2 guys that install the update and they are more then happy with it.
