Just put a new transducer on my terrova and took it to the lake. Dropped the trolling motor and had no gps signal. Finally got a good signal and hit Sherlock. Went to tie on a lure and heard the had turning then a pop. It kept spinning and snapped the cable to a new SI transducer. Never even got the ff turned on to use it!

Now everyone I hit spotlock, it kicks on to a high speed and just keeps spinning until I have to manually stop it. It no longer will hold a spot.

Anyone have an idea add to the issue? I am on the lake right now and can check any suggestions. Has a full charge on batteries and I have unplugged then replied in the unit to try a reset.

Didn't you always tell me how great the Terrova was?

I still think they are. I think this is the only time one has failed me and everything still worked except the spotlock.

I have to watch the cable on mine, but I have never seen one turn like you described. Sounds like the control board to me as well.

Talked to Jones trolling motors from here on the forum. He was nice enough to discuss the issue on the phone with me. When I originally posted, I was on the water trying to repair. I didn't mention that I had cut down my shaft to better fit the boat. Cutting down the shaft, left longer wires that had to be stuffed into the head. He suggested that those wires not being properly routed in the head could be causing interference. I am going to shorten the wires today and see if it corrects the problem. I have a feeling that it will. If not then I'll try to make a trip to Texarkana and let him repair it.

Id like to give a shout out to Jones TM repair. I see him post answers to help folks out on here, all of the time. I appreciate him taking the time during his workday to talk to me and try to diagnose the problem over the phone and not just say bring it in. He's a great guy!

Finally had the time to work on the trolling motor. Cut the wires down to size, reconnected and problem was solved.
