Got out yesterday and today. Wind was so bad yesterday I could only fish a couple of places. Ended with 2 keepers and about 10 unders. Today was much better wind wise. Got on the water at sunup and headed to the bridge. Not much happening there. No keepers and a few dinks. Wind was starting to pick up so I headed south. Fished a small pile on the west side just north of Highview park. Pulled 6 keepers off it before they stopped. Moved on south some more. Fished 3 more piles and got 6 more keepers. Moved to the east side down toward the dam and caught 2 more keepers and the biggest hybrid I've caught out there. I thought he was gonna spool me before he wore out. Scale shot is a little squirrelly, but it was close to 9 or 10, not real sure. Also 2 bass, a catfish, and a 15 hybrid. All in all a pretty good day.
Same old thing. 1/16 jig head, Cajun Cricket about one turn off bottom. Brush was 10 to 14' deep. I got a new rod. An ACC Crappie Stix. It is now my new fav.

I like it a lot. Plenty of backbone is correct. See hybrid above. I wasn't worried about the rod at all, but was sure worried about being spooled.

Good job Rodney! Glad I didn't make the trip on Saturday. That wind was nasty!

Miles, yesterday would have been good for you till about 11:00. Wind started to pickup then. I'll be out there again this weekend. Sat. is looking good. Give me a holler if you are gonna make it out.

Good catch....how's the bite? Are they nailing it,or just pulling down? Been a while since I got into them at Bardwell, but I remember the fish slamming the jig at times. So much fun!

If you are talking crappie it is very subtle. Sometime just slack line. But I did have one that took off like a bass does. Was quite surprised it was a crappie. Hybrid nailed it and took off. Bass and catfish did the same thing.
