Ok here's the setup nrx893 rod, Core 100 reel , invizix 15 flourocarbon. I was fishing tonight and caught 3 fish all around 3 or a little more but 2 times I set the hook and I felt the one fish and she felt like Rosanne bar on the end of my line. I set the hook and bam no fish nor no bait. Had it happen 2 times. I got hung up once and pulled line so hard before it broke off I almost cut my hand. So I'm guessing it's not a line issue. But who knows. It happened about 3 weeks ago. Drives me crazy. Always a 5$ jig and rage crawl down the drain to boot

dont like flouro either-- use mono for hard baits-- braid for everything else
i know flouro is supposed to give better feel --i will take less feel and no break offs !

I don't know what it's called but some people call it a shaw grisby knot.

Well, I'm not familiar with that one. If Shaw says it's good, then I'm sure it's good. Looks complicated to me though...

I used to have issues with breaking off on the hook set with fluorocarbon. I was tying a palomar knot. Some guys swear by it with fluoro, but it wasn't working for me. I switched to a knot I saw Alton Jones tie (can't find that video, but here's another below). Some call it a San Diego Jam knot (I don't think this one actually is), and I've seen others call it a Reverse Clinch knot. It seems almost too simple to work, but it's been great for me. I'm not saying it's your problem (could be as simple as knicks in your line), but it might be a place to start.

That's a great knot! Maybe the jig had a sharp spot on the line tie. 15lb InvisX is some tough sh*t. I was having issues with thin clips on the original Phenix bladed jigs causing lost lures/fish with it though.

It's happened with 3 different. But I order 20 at a time. Maybe a batch of bad ones. Idk. I changed the line in all of this I think also. Really sucks. The second fish was a biggun. I've been using this set up for awhile now. Never had it happen till recently.

I've been using that knot for years. I didn't think it would be a good flourocarbon knot. I used that knot before flouro came out.

Can you tell where in the line the break was? Are you sure it broke? Did the knot pull loose and leave a "curly" at the end of the line? Is the line breaking several feet above the knot? If it is breaking several feet above the knot, I may know exactly what happened.

Never had a problem like this. I use Invisx exclusively. May want to bump that line to 17# or 20# when fishing jigs. When the Palomar knot is tied right, wetting the entire knot when sinching the line to prevent burning the line, should be fine. My guess is fraid line after fish catches or fishing around structure. I check my line all the time. Best thing about the palonar knot is that it only takes seconds to re-tie.

I use a palomar on everything and don't have issues. When I first started I had problems with break offs but it was my hookset. I was setting it way to hard. I would bet if your flipping cover your line is frayed or could be on a limb or something when you set the hook. Try retying more.

I use 17# on that same setup and sometimes 20#. Dragging a jig around with flouro this is going to happen... More so the lighter the line.

I've had many issues with invisx burning the line depending on the knot I tie. Sometimes I'd think everything went beautifully and then I'd give the line a small yank just to make sure everything was tightened up and the line would break. I've found this to be very problematic for lines sizes 12lbs and less. 17 and over I've not had much of a problem. In any case, make sure you spit lubricate the daylights out of your line before you synch. The other alternative is to switch to a palomar knot it seems to side step any of the line burn issues.

I became aware with fluro is if you get a bad backlash and the line kinks it may cause problems. I've always had to be more mindful with line issues on fluro than mono..lots of line conditioner
