I couldn't decide which forum to post this, so I flipped a coin. We got on the water about 8:30am and noticed how HIGH the water was. It was over the dilapidated courtesy docks. No movement whatsoever. All day. Basically put the boat in the water, dropped the trolling motor and headed north. On about my 3rd cast, I caught a 1 1/2# bass on a 1.5 crank bait. My Wife was using her usually productive tiny H2O crank bait but I had 7 LMB in the boat before she switched to a 1.5 and caught her 1st bass. Continued north and to the NW throwing 1.5's and lipless crank baits. Caught numerous bass and even a rat red. After about 2 hours, the bite just stopped and we turned around. Starting catching fish again as we headed south. After we got just past the camp, we dropped the big motor and headed to new territory. We saw some shad flitting, so we dropped the trolling motor and threw lipless baits. To our delight, we started catching specks left and right with an occasional LMB to boot. This would go on for about 200 yards, the bite would stop, would move on, and fond another good spot. We fished until about 4:00pm. All in all, we caught 46 LMB, 28 trout, and 2 reds. I had a big redfish jump at my lipless right as I was pulling it out of the water. Darn! Beautiful day, moderate winds and just cool enough to need a long sleeve short

Well done. A trip like that would be a lot of fun. Not knowing what may hit on your next cast would add to the good times.

Chocolate Bayou is the same way. Those Bass chase Shrimp along bulkheads all day. Plus you catch Reds/Trout/Flounder too. Occasionally a Blue Cat. Nice report, there are some nice Bass in Halls.

That's typical of the trout that are up that fresh, they are small.. but hey.. those small ones have been all over the bay this fall as well and you caught some bass too, so not bad!
